Scars Gone by Mary Ellen Simmons

I used to see the scars and dwell on them
They used to consume me in the morning as I dressed for the day
They would take over my thoughts and ruin a perfectly good start to a normal day
But now I don’t see the scars anymore.

I don’t see the scars anymore.
Oh yes I know they are still there.
But I don’t see them.
I look past them.

What made the scars go away?
Maybe it is because my eyesight is poor?
Maybe it is that I refuse to look at them?
Maybe I have moved on.
Whatever the reason,
I don’t see the scars anymore.
