From the President of VCSN
Summer newsletter featuring news from David Cranmer, Co-founder and President.
Happy summer! As the seasons change so does the Vermont Cancer Survivor Network.
At our June Board/Annual Meeting, Henry Erickson was re-elected to a 2 year term as Director and we welcome Eleanor“Boo”Sinclair from Burlington as a new 2-year Director. Lorri Otis was appointed to a one-year term.
We wish to thank George Clain and Lisa Buck for their service on the board. George organized our Chili Cook-Off and Survivor Day parade and Lisa organized the wonderful activities for the past two Cancer Survivor Day celebrations in Barre. We appreciate their enthusiasm and the new ideas they brought to the Network.
The slate of officers was approved for one-year terms: David Cranmer – President, Henry Erickson – Vice President, Sharon Kellerman – Secretary, and Lorri Otis – Treasurer.
We have one open seat on our Board of Directors. If you would like more information, please contact me directly at email@example.com.
Watch for more changes this summer. Survivor Network members have created a Program Committee, which will be reviewing the many programs we have or wish to start and will give us some priorities for the coming year. At the same time, Survivor Network members are working with SCORE Mentors in drafting a marketing plan.
Also in the works, we have contracted with Diane Meyerhoff of Third Sector Associates to do the research and collect content for our Cancer Survivor On-Line Resource site. This project is funded in part by a grant from the Vermont Community Foundation. We will be adding this to our web page by the end of the year.
Later this year we will be working with the Vermont Department of Health on a formal evaluation of our Kindred Connections program – which some of you will be asked to participate. This is part of a long-term piece of the Vermont State Cancer Plan to address cancer survivorship issues.
All of these projects will combine to help us as we plan for the future of the Vermont Cancer Survivor Network and enable to us to continue to improve the quality of life for Vermonters living with cancer.
Finally thanks to Robin Votile and Emily Benoit - our interns for this spring and summer. As well as to KC member Jeanne Bone, who is volunteering to help us with our member databases. Your help is greatly appreciated.
As always, check our web site – vcsn.net - or Facebook page to learn more about what's happening around the Network.
