Carebags

Receive a CareBag by a Kindred Connections Volunteer

CareBags are for anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer. They are created as a way to say the Vermont Cancer Survivor Network cares about you. It is also a way to connect more cancer patients to Kindred Connections volunteers. The bags are filled with resources such as: Kindred Soup, a collection of essays, poems, and stories by Vermont cancer survivors; a journal and pen; a lip balm, a stress stick, handmade inspirational cards and envelopes, and a book.

For your Carebag please contact Mary Ellen Simmons, coordinatorvcsn@gmail.com, 800-652-5064

Some of the handmade bags were designed and sewn by Crafty Ladies, in St.Albans, as well as the Senior Center in Montpelier and other volunteers in central Vermont.

In the past this project was funded by the Vermont Community Foundation and Vermont Mutual Insurance.  We are looking for volunteers who want to help create specific care bags for the diverse needs of cancer patients.  (For example Chemo Carebag, Radiation Carebag, Caregiver Carebag, Healing Carebag, ...)  Send your ideas to Mary Ellen at coordinatorvcsn@gmail.com
